Training for the artist's eye
Do you ever look at a painting and think:
Why would someone have made this?
As an artist, you are a storyteller; the colors and shapes are your words. What do you see when you paint? What is there to discover? This is a training for enthusiastic artists!
During the project, students will learn to see like artists. They'll paint the school's surroundings, create a composition of the classroom, or observe themselves through drawing. Between painting sessions, they'll complete inspiring, short assignments to look at and talk about the works of other artists and myself. They might look at landscape paintings, still lifes, and various moods. Or they might look at self-portraits and then recognize and name emotions. Ultimately, we'll have trained artists' eyes and a classroom full of paintings.
